Munster Juniors Defeat Connacht

Munster Juniors finished their Inter Provincial campaign Championship with another impressive performance at Dunmore, Co. Galway defeating Connacht 35-3 with a bonus point victory.

However Ulster’s 34-15 win over Leinster at Longford saw Ulster being crowned Junior Inter Provincial champions for this season.

It was a keenly contested opening half at Dunmore with Matthew Mannion kicking Connacht into the lead with a penalty but a try from Abbeyfeale’s Derry O’Connor gave Munster a 5-3 interval lead.

Aidan O’Dwyer who played for the injured John Lillis at out half extended Munster’s lead with a drop goal and two penalties from O’Connor put Munster 14-3 ahead.

Munster finished strongly and tries from O’Connor, Kieran Downey and Scott Hornibrook all converted by O’Connor saw Munster run out comfortable winners.

After the game Galbally second-row Brendan Childs was voted Munster’s Player of the Series.
