Munster Juniors Host Ulster In Interprovincial Opener
26th April 2018 By The Editor
The Munster Juniors take on defending champions Ulster in the opening round of the 2017/18 Interprovincial Series this Saturday, 28 April, at Muskerry RFC (kick-off 2.30pm).
Munster will be seeking revenge for an opening day defeat this time last year to Ulster at Randalstown, where they went down 20-3.
Munster Juniors Head Coach, John Keehan, said: “We had a disappointing start last year but recovered with two very solid wins v Leinster (home) and Connacht (away) and will be hoping to carry that momentum into this year’s campaign.”
The side is captained from the second row by Galbally’s Brendan Childs, Munster’s Player of the Series last year. Following on from this weekend is an away trip to Leinster at Coolmine RFC before Connnact at home at Old Christians on the 12th May.
The squad contains players from twelve different clubs with the host club, Muskerry, represented by Dan Horgan and Martin Muldoon.
Muskerry will officially open their new pitch at Ballyanly, Inniscarra, before the Interpro match.
The pitch is located alongside the Muskerry clubhouse in the Inniscarra Community Centre and has been developed through a combination of grant aid and internal fundraising.
The quality of the playing surface, regardless of the weather, allied to excellent viewing facilities, has attracted rave reviews from visiting teams, and as a result the pitch has already been chosen to host a number of significant club and school fixtures.
