Munster Rugby AGM Update
8th April 2022 By The Editor
Munster Rugby and Ballincollig RFC met on Thursday afternoon to discuss the recent decision to defer a motion proposing amendments to the Munster Rugby Branch Bye-Laws.
The proposed amendments were in reference to the All-Ireland League (or its equivalent) and Senior Club status with both terms to represent the men’s and women’s game.
The Branch welcomed the opportunity to meet with Ballincollig RFC representatives to provide context to the proposer’s decision to defer the motion and express support for the proposed amendments.
The meeting also outlined the process for a comprehensive review of the Bye-Laws in order to ensure the appropriate and necessary changes are made.
Munster Rugby is committed to ensuring the club’s governance structures reflect our inclusive and diverse community and that all stakeholders are catered for within the province.
Munster Rugby Branch President Seán McCullough said, “We look forward to working with all our stakeholders to ensure inclusivity is front and centre of everything we are striving towards across our rugby community.
“Our meeting with Ballincollig was an opportunity for all involved to ensure we continue the great work done to date.
“We have fantastic volunteers who are developing and promoting the game to new heights each day and we are extremely grateful to all involved.”
Ballincollig Director of Rugby Denis Stevenson added, “Ballincollig had a very positive meeting with the Munster Branch this week around the issue of senior status for the Women’s All Ireland League teams.
“We look forward to the motion being progressed at the June AGM.”
