Following on from the IRFU’s statement regarding the immediate conclusion of all domestic rugby competitions, Munster Rugby would like to thank all who have contributed to the 2019/20 season.

The continued efforts of players, coaches, referees, club officers and volunteers week in and week out ensures the province continues to develop a thriving grassroots rugby community and a brilliant provincial game.

The IRFU’s decision to end and conclude the current domestic season due to ongoing concerns over coronavirus is fully supported by Munster Rugby with the welfare of our rugby family and the wider Irish community the priority at this time.

The directive applies to all incomplete national and provincial competitions.

It was announced there will be no promotion or relegation in any of the five divisions in the Men’s All Ireland League, while the planned expansion of the Women’s All Ireland League remains in place for the 2020/21 season.

Cups will be shared by finalists, where cup competitions have reached the final fixture, and there will be no league or cup winners in any of the incomplete competitions organised at national or provincial level.

In total, 119 league and cup competitions were held across adult and age-grade rugby in Munster.

Of those competitions;

  • 41 competitions (18 Adult / 23 Age-Grade) have been completed with a winner.
  • 26 competitions (8 Adult / 18 Age-Grade) have ended with shared winners, based on the criteria set out by the IRFU Rugby Committee.
  • 52 competitions (14 Adult / 38 Age-Grade) have been declared incomplete.
