Munster Rugby Development Focus On Skills With New Appointment

Mike Pettman was recently appointed to the role of Munster Rugby Technical Skills Development Coach within the Rugby Development Department.
Mike’s new role will be responsible for improving and enhancing the quality of players and coaches in clubs and schools throughout the province.
Mike will work with Munster’s talent identified players to help develop their technical and tactical ability, as well as improving skills at school level and driving standards of skills coaching on the Munster pathway.
From New Zealand, Mike represented Manawatu, New Zealand 7s and Universities before coaching both Manawatu Men’s and Women’s 7s squads.
Mike also has experience of playing rugby in Ireland having spent two seasons with Dolphin RFC as a utility back before moving home to New Zealand.
Commenting on his appointment, Mike said: “I’m looking forward to developing the skill set of players and the standard of skills coaching across the province.
“It’s about improving those split second decision making processes in game situations and seeing the progression of players and coaches over time will be rewarding.
“The sense of community within Munster Rugby is something a lot of people can relate to and I’m looking forward to being back in Ireland and working with those involved in the game.”
Mike will work closely with Munster Head of Rugby Development Ultan O’Callaghan.
