Munster Rugby Health And Well-Being Webinars November 2020

Munster Rugby held the first of two health and well-being webinars on Monday in collaboration with Clare Local Sports Partnership (LSP) and Kilrush RFC.

The webinars commenced on Monday last (23rd) with our final speakers presenting next Monday (30th).

Former Munster player Jonny Holland commenced the event with his presentation on ‘Nutrition for Sports Performance’, referencing some of the key benefits to knowing what we eat and why. His key take-home messages included the 3 R’s to Recovery, sharing his thoughts on Repair, Refuel and Rehydrate for increasing performance in sport.

Munster Academy lead physiotherapist, Shane Malone also presented on Monday and focused on the area of injury prevention and rehabilitation. Shane shared his experiences in the professional game and also gave some key take-home messages including how to know what we are looking for and using world-class basics like the POLICE acronym when managing an injury.

Next Monday’s presentations will include the area of fitness and conditioning with Munster Academy S&C coach Cian Gormley and finishing the series will be Sana Govender, behavioural psychologist and performance coach, presenting on mental health and well-being.

  • Jonny Holland is a former professional rugby player with Munster Rugby and now a consultant sports nutritionist.   • Sana Govender is a part-time employee of Munster Rugby and is a Behavioural Psychologist and Performance Coach who is obsessed with human potential and the capacity we have as human beings to achieve great things.
