Munster Schools Development Team
30th October 2014 By Munster Rugby
The Munster U-17 Schools Development squad continued their progress with a game against Connacht at the 4G pitch in UL yesterday.
The training game was split into three 25-minute sections with each player getting an opportunity to play against his peer from Connacht.
Munster Rugby Coach Development Manager Keith Murphy and Coach Development Officer John Lacey are co-ordinating the U-17 Schools Development programme that started in July with over 50 players.
The players trained for eight weeks on-pitch over the summer and continued that programme on Tuesday and Wednesday in UL with over 40 players involved.
These players will all be pushing for a position on next year’s Munster Schools team as they look to emulate this year's side that claimed the Interprovincial crown.
On Tuesday, the squad were given an introduction to position-specific skills, developing into a unit and some team-play alignment by the Elite Player Development Department along with John Lacey and Keith Murphy to prepare for the Connacht game.
The Strength and Conditioning Department facilitated an education module on mobility and strength and conditioning in the elite squad gym in UL and the UL Arena.
