Munster Schools Girls Senior And Junior Cup Round-Up

Three matches took place on Wednesday across the Munster Schools Girls Senior and Junior Cups with the respective competitions nearing the finish line.
Reigning Senior Cup champions St Anne’s Community College will have a chance to defend their title after they beat Intermediate School Killorglin 27-5 in UL. Rebecca Rogers and Amy Reilly scored a brace of tries each for St Anne’s with Fionnuala O’Rahilly also getting on the scoresheet. Rogers also converted one of the tries. Killorglin’s try came through Marina Eager.
In a tight first half, both teams were tied 5-5 at the break but the experience of St Anne’s told in the second half as they ran in a further four unanswered tries to secure their passage into the final.
In the other Munster Schools Girls Senior Cup semi-final, last year’s finalists Bandon Grammar School drew 12-12 with Ardscoil Mhuire. However, the Limerick school advance to their first Senior Cup final due to the first try scored ruling.
Ardscoil Mhuire’s tries came thanks to a brace from Katie Hehir.
Ardscoil Mhuire will now meet St Anne’s Community College in the final.
In the first of the Munster Schools Girls Junior Cup semi-finals, Coláiste Ide Dingle beat St Joseph’s College Borrisoleigh 51-17 in a highly entertaining game in UL.
Roisín McDhonnchaidh, Mallaidh Ní Bheolain, Cait NíLaoda MacAodh, Annie Ní Rathalaigh were among the try scorers with Ní Bheolain notching three tries to her name.
The St Joseph’s tries included efforts from Abbie Kelly and Terese Groome with the latter getting two tries on the day.
Coláiste Ide Dingle now await the winners of the other semi-final tie between St Anne’s Community College and Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí who meet next week.
