Munster Senior Coaches Host Workshop

Munster Rugby senior coaches recently ran a coaching workshop in Fermoy RFC for all Munster age grade representative coaches and the Munster domestic rugby coaching staff.

Munster’s forwards coach Anthony Foley, scrum coach Paul McCarthy and backs coach Jason Holland each took modules relevant to their own areas of expertise.

The course was co-ordinated by Munster ‘A’ and senior skills coach Ian Costelloe who invited players from the Academy and sub Academy to take part in the practical element.

The workshop focused on technical elements of the game paying specific attention to the unit, team attack/defence and individual skill development. Areas focused on also included realignment, breakdown and continuity, breakdown defence, scrum, line out and maul.

Domestic Rugby Manager Ultan O'Callaghan stated “This alignment of coaches throughout our squads aids in player development and will facilitate collective understanding in order to develop Munster players from age grade through to the top level. I would like to thank the senior coaches for their assistance in the development of coaching within the Munster and IRFU pathway".

Munster U20, U19 (x2), U18 club, U18 school and women’s interprovincial squads will be competing from early September through to October. For any information on the upcoming interprovincial series at all levels please email info@munsterrugby.ie
