Munster Senior Cup Round-Up

There were shock defeats for Garryowen and Dolphin in the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup opening round.
Division 2A side Nenagh Ormond defeated Garryowen 20-13 in a thrilling contest at the Tipperary ground.
A penalty try, converted by Eathon Moloney and two Clapton Stewart penalties gave Nenagh Ormond a 13-10 half-time lead. Elliott Fitzgerald replied with a try for Garryowen and Neil Cronin kicked a conversion and a penalty.
A second Cronin penalty had the sides level, before Moloney scored the winning try which he also converted.
Highfield defeated Dolphin 34-23 at Irish Independent Park. Paddy O’Toole, Mark Dorgan, Dave O’Connell and Peter Martin scored tries for Highfield and O’Toole converted all four and added two penalties.
Dolphin replied with tries from Cian McGovern, Cian Daly and Kevin Allen and Cillian Monaghan kicked two penalties and a conversion.
Holders Cork Constitution came from 6-5 down at half time to defeat U.L. Bohemian at Annacotty 31-6. Max Abbott and Conor Kindregan scored two tries each for the winners and John Poland also got a try. Tomás Quinlan added three conversions. Rick McKenna replied with two penalties for the Limerick side.
Last season’s beaten finalists Young Munster defeated Kanturk 48-0 at the Duhallow venue. Abrie Griesel and Tom McHale each scored two tries for the Cookies and Dan Walsh and Rob Guerin got one each. Paul Downs kicked three conversions and two penalties, David O’Mahony added two conversions and Shane Airey one.
Shannon were 34-12 winners over Sunday’s Well on the back pitch in Thomond Park. Converted tries either side of half-time proved to be the deciding scores. Conor Glynn, Ronan McKenna, Keith Kavanagh and Jordan Prendeville were Shannon’s try scorers. McKenna converted all four tries and added two penalties.
Greg Higgins and Aidan O’Reilly replied with tries for the ‘Well and Shane O’Riordan kicked a conversion.
U.C.C. defeated Bruff 42-24 at the Mardyke. The students led 35-0 at half-time and had tries from Chris McAuliffe (2), Murray Linn, Ben Mitchell, Conor Barry and Daire Feeney scored tries for College. Kevin O’Keeffe converted all six tries.
Bruff came back into the game in the second half with two tries from Tony Cahill, David Horan and John Hogan got one each. David O’Grady kicked two conversions.
Cashel recorded a 26-12 home win over Thomond. Tommy Anglim, Brian Silke, Michael Hickey and Michael Crosse scored tries for Cashel. Pat O’Connor kicked one conversion and Conor Holland two.
Jamie McGarry and Sean Ryan replied with tries for Thomond and Alan Wallace added a conversion
Old Crescent were 22-0 winners over Midleton at Rosbrien. Paul McNamara, Denis Kennedy and Gareth Quinn McDonogh scored tries for the Limerick side and Shane O’Brien kicked two conversions and a penalty.
