Munster Stars Launch 2014 SEAT Schools Cups

Munster stars and former Schools Cup winners James Coughlan and Donncha O’Callaghan were on hand to launch the SEAT Munster Schools Senior and Junior Cups competitions yesterday.

The Senior Cup’s opening round fixtures kick-off this week with 2014 marking the 105th Munster Schools Cup and the first year that SEAT, the official car partner to the Munster team has been involved in the competition.

Rockwell College, who in last year’s final were denied a three in a row will put their disappointment behind them when they face Castletroy in the competition’s opener in Clanwilliam Park at 3pm today.

There will be four schools in action tomorrow. Current Senior champions Crescent College will begin their defence of the title when they take on Cork rivals C.B.C. in Corbally. Meanwhile P.B.C. will take on St. Munchins in Musgrave Park.

Ardscoil Rís will host Glenstal Abbey School in their first round fixture at Rosbrien on Thursday 30 January as they set out to claim a first ever title of the Munster Schools Senior Cup.

New sponsor SEAT announced a number of new initiatives for 2014, including the first ever SEAT Team of the Munster Schools Senior Cup Award.

A team of 15 outstanding players will be selected by the Munster Rugby Schools Committee who will have representatives attending all Schools Senior Cup matches.

SEAT is also introducing a SEAT Fair Play award, which will recognise good or sporting behaviour or other actions by players, schools and officials involved in the SEAT Munster Schools Cups.

In addition, SEAT is calling on the loyal Schools Cup followers to support their team to be in with a chance of being named the SEAT supporter of the Schools Cup. Fans are being asked to submit images and videos of them in their school colours at matches, on the bus or in their schools in the run up to games. The overall winner could win a training session with Munster stars in their school. For further details visit www.Facebook.com/SEATIreland.
