Munster U18 Clubs And Schools Coaching Teams Named

The coaching teams for the Munster U18 Clubs and Munster U18 Schools representative sides have been confirmed ahead of the interprovincial series which begin at the end of August.

Noel O’Meara will act as head coach for both the clubs and schools sides. O’Meara is a Coach & Player Development Officer with Munster Rugby and has previously held head coach roles with Munster’s underage representative sides.

Lee Nicholas has been appointed forwards coach of the schools side. Nicholas currently plays with Shannon RFC while he also coaches the Senior Cup team at Crescent College Comprehensive. Tom Fogarty will take charge of the forwards for the clubs side. Fogarty is currently a coach with Garryowen FC.

Munster Rugby Technical Skills Development Coach Mike Pettman will coach the backs for the schools side. Pettman, in his role as Technical Skills Development Coach, works with talent identified players to help develop their tactical and technical ability.

Cork Con scrum-half and former Munster player Gerry Hurley has been appointed backs coach of the club side. Rugby Development Officer Eugene McCarthy will act as scrum coach for both the schools and club sides. McCarthy has considerable experience coaching Munster’s underage representative sides.

Rob Cassidy has been appointed Atheltic Development Coach of the schools side. Cassidy has held Athletic Development coaching roles with the Ireland club side and Young Munster RFC. Chris Coburn has been appointed Athletic Development Coach of the clubs side. Coburn previously held a role as Academy Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach with Munster Rugby.

Fogarty and Billy McNamara will act as Team Manager and Kit Advisor, respectively, for both the schools and club side. Fogarty and McNamara have both been involved with Munster’s underage sides for a number of years.
