Munster U18 Girls lost out 26-10 to Connacht in their second Interprovincial Series encounter at The Sportsground on Sunday.

It was a close contest at half-time with only two points separating the sides, as Connacht went in at the break with a 7-5 winning score-line.

It was Munster who secured the first points on the board through scrum-half Gemma Lane before Connacht responded with a converted try of their own, courtesy of Beibhinn Parsons, to sneak the lead.

After the interval, Parsons recorded a hat-trick with two tries coming in quick succession to extend the home side’s lead.

Munster replacement Maeve O’Leary went over for her side’s second try of the match before the conversion went wide of the sticks.

The visitors continued to pressurise in the closing stages but it was to be Connacht’s day.

Munster U18 Girls opened their Interprovincial campaign with a loss to Leinster at Irish Independent Park on Saturday 1 September.

The squad will now face Ulster in their final Interprovincial outing of the season, travelling to MU Barnhall RFC, Parsonstown, on Saturday for a 1pm kick-off.
