Munster U18 Schools Named For Second Leinster Meeting

Head Coach Mark Butler has named the Munster U18 Schools squad to face Leinster at Cork CIT tomorrow, ko 4pm.

Munster U18 Schools, sponsored by Trend Micro, will seek avenge on their return fixture against the defending champions, who claimed a 34-22 win in their opening match of the series at Donnybrook.

Captained by Cian Hurley from CBC, the Munster side will hope to continue their momentum following an improved performance against Ulster in their second match, where they claimed a 10-9 win at Thomond Park Stadium.

Hurley, who also represented Ireland schools last season starts in the second row joining Eoin Quilter from PBC.

The front row will comprise of loose head Conor Fitzgerald from Crescent, hooker Aaron Hennessy representing The Ayra Project and tighthead, Mark Donnelly who was part of the winning squad that claimed the Munster Schools Junior Cup title last March.

Luke Obersby from Midleton College joins Mark Crowe representing St. Munchin’s College at flanker with PBC’s Alex Kendellen named at No. 8.

Crescent’s John Hurley takes the full back position with his school colleague Jamin Hoffman and Andrew Hogan from Glenstal Abbey School making up the back three.

Jude Pendjijito from St. Munchin’s College and CBC’s Tommy Downes make up the centre partnership with CBC’s Jack O’Riordan and Jack Delaney, who lined out for Crescent in last season’s Munster Schools Junior Cup final, named in the half backs.

CBC’s Cian Whooley, who played opposite Delaney at out-half in the Junior Cup final has been brought into the squad and joins Kieran O’Shea (Castletroy College), Ciaran Ryan (Rockwell College), Evan Sheehan (St. Munchin’s College), David McCarthy (PBC), Jay Traynor (De La Salle College), Daniel Okeke (Ardscoil Rís), Mark McLoughlin (PBC) and Oisín Mangan (Rockwell College) in the replacements.
