Munster U19 were edged out 24-21 in their latest Interprovincial encounter with Leinster at Energia Park over the weekend.
It was Leinster who secured the first points on the board with Luis Faria crossing after five minutes and David Fitzgibbon adding the extras.
However, Munster soon responded with a penalty from Ben Daly in the 14th minute to keep it close.
Minutes later, the visitors were awarded a second penalty following good work by number 8, Alex Kendellen, and it was Daly who converted.
Munster continued to pressurise and were rewarded with a try from Eoin Quilter to take the lead after the 20-minute mark.
However, Leinster began to launch their phase attack and it wasn’t long before Mark Nicholson crossed for five points and Fitzgibbon converted the score before half-time approached.
After the break, a penalty attempt from Fitzgibbon resulted in the home side extending their lead.
Munster responded with a try from Ciaran Ryan, which was converted by Daly in the 50th minute to take a one-point lead.
A penalty from Daly minutes later then pushed Munster further in front.
Leinster were quick to react and a try from Ryan McMahon in the 64th minute, converted by Fitzgibbon, for a 24-21 lead eventually edged the win for the Blues.
Munster U19 had previously defeated Ulster 34-22 at CIT in the opening round of Interpros, and will now take on Connacht at Thomond Park this Saturday, 15 September (kick-off 1pm).
