Munster U19 claimed a 34-22 win over Ulster in their first Interprovincial outing of the new season at CIT on Saturday.

Timmy Duggan opened the scoring for Munster on 16 minutes with both sides battling up front on the half-way line.

It was a tight contest as Ulster countered and scored seven minutes later to level the scores with an unconverted try from Angus Blair.

Munster put pressure on the Ulster line when winger Ronan Quinn was tackled in the air and a seven-point penalty try put them back in the lead.

Ulster’s Conor Rankin brought the score line close to 12 points to eight at the break.

Ulster looked threatening after the break with an unconverted try by Rankin.

However, Munster started to pressurise at the breakdown and soon had control of the game with tries from prop Ciaran Ryan, number 8 Alex Kendellen and a superb breakaway interception from winger Ronan Quinn.

Ben Daly then added two conversions and Charlie O’Doherty soon after added a penalty.

Ulster did bounce back with a try from Robbie Maters and Rankin added the conversion, but it was too late as Munster ran out 34-22 at the final whistle.
