Munster U19 Team Named For Interpro Opener With Leinster

Munster U19 head coach Fiach O’Loughlin has named his matchday squad for Saturday’s IRFU U19 Men’s Interprovincial Series opener against Leinster at Energia Park (KO 2pm).

O’Loughlin has named Castletroy College and Garryowen FC’s Jack Oliver as captain and Bandon Grammar School’s Liam McCarthy as vice-captain.

The Munster U19s coaching team consists of O’Loughlin as head coach, Munster Rugby Coach & Player Development Officer Brendan O’Connor as forwards coach, former Munster wing Ronan O’Mahony as backs coach and Dave Lee as scrum coach.

Speaking about the squad’s preparation for the Interprovincial series, O’Mahony said:

“The lads are unbelievably eager and I suppose there is a big onus on us to keep that enjoyment factor in there as all these lads play rugby because they really enjoy it. A big part of the philosophy is that the lads really enjoy the environment while making it very challenging for them as well.

“Constantly getting them to delve just outside their comfort zone, I think that’s where you will find the biggest growth. Keeping it a really enjoyable environment and keeping it challenging for the lads.”

Munster U19s will also face off against Ulster and Connacht on the weekends of August 28th/29th and September 4th/5th.
