Munster U19’s Meet Munster School Champions

Last Saturday a Munster U19 select took on the Munster Schools Senior Cup winners Crescent College Comprehensive in a charity challenge game in aid of St Gabriels, Limerick.

The school side started off on the front foot which saw Captian Gearoid Lyons control matters from the out-half position along with strong ball carrying skills from forwards Diarmuid Dee, Jack Dineen and Liam McMahon. This momentum inevitably led to scoring opportunities which eventually brought Crescent to a 12-0 lead at half time.

Both teams made a number of changes for the second half and a late try from the Munster U19 side left a final scoreline of 12-5 to the Schools Senior Cup champions.

Munster Rugby’s Junior Vice President Michael Goggin was on hand to congratulate both teams for an entertaining match and thanked Crescent College for hosting the fixture and dedicating the proceeds to a very worthy charity.

This was the final game of the Munster U19 screening programme and the Management Team will now select their final squad of 26 players (and 10 reserve players ) to represent their province in the Interprovincial Series 2013.

Selected players will attend the Munster Rugby Talent Camp at Rockwell College this summer along with the Munster U20, Munster U18 Schools and Munster U18 Club squads as part of their on-going preparations.
