Munster U20 And Development Side In Thomond

Colm McMahon has named a strong side for the combined Munster U20 and development squad’s clash against Ulster in Thomond Park tomorrow night (Friday, September 9).

Seven Greencore Munster Rugby Academy players have been included in the squad – flanker Gavin Coombes, no. 8 John Foley, centre Calvin Nash and locks Fineen Wycherley and Sean O’Connor all start with prop Liam O’Connor and hooker Vincent O’Brien among the replacements.

Out-half Conor Fitzgerald, Calvin Nash and Gavin Coombes all trained with Munster's senior squad during pre-season.

Former Glenstal Abbey man Colm Hogan, now at Dublin University, captains the side from full-back.

Having won the U18 Interprovincials in 2014 and the U19 title in 2015, a number of squad members are actually unbeaten in a Munster shirt but they face stiff opposition from a talented Ulster outfit on Friday night.

Having been beaten 46-20 by Leinster last week, Ulster will be keen to get back on track in Limerick.

All four Munster underage sides are at home this weekend with a double header in CIT on Saturday (U18 Schools and U19s) with the U18 Clubs team facing Leinster in Thomond on Sunday at 2.30pm.
