Munster U20s On Track

The Munster U20s Squad completed their preparations for the upcoming Interprovincial series with a challenge game against UCC at the Mardyke last Friday night.

Head Coach Greig Oliver used the game as an opportunity to rotate the full squad in an attempt to give players and different combinations their chance to lay claim to a spot in next weekend's squad for the opening Interpro game away to Ulster.

In a competitive opening half both sides struggled to gain the upper hand in attack, both guilty of early season errors.

However as the half went on, it was the Munster U20s who broke the deadlock with winger Alex Wootton scoring in the right hand corner after some solid work from the pack who retained possession for a number of phases.

Not long after the break, Wootton scored his second try to leave the score at 10-0.

There were further tries in the second half scored by Aidan Barron, Seamus Keating and academy player Jack O'Donoghue.

In response UCC scored two tries of their own to leave the final score UCC 14, Munster U20 XV 31.

On behalf of the squad Team Manager Graham Burns would like to thank all of those who came along to the game to support the lads, it was really appreciated. He also added "We look forward to opening the campaign in Ravenhill next weekend."
