Munster Women Heading to Las Vegas

Munster Women Heading to Las Vegas

Two Munster players will take part in the Las Vegas 7s this weekend with Anthony Eddy’s Irish Women.

With the Irish Women’s side at home in Dublin this weekend facing France in the Six Nations, the Irish 7s side are in Las Vegas, looking to continue their excellent form in the competition thus far.

Anthony Eddy’s side recorded their highest placing at a Sevens tournament since 2013 three weeks ago, when they defeated Fiji for the first time on the way to 8th place in Australia.

Louise Galvin played an important part of that Sydney success three weeks ago, and has thus been rewarded with a place on the bench for the Ireland XV for that French game.

However, there is still plenty of Munster involvement, with UL Bohemians’ Claire Keohane returning to the squad having been involved with the Women 7s development squad in Dubai. She’s joined by Amee-Leigh Murphy-Crowe, who is the third highest try scorer so far in this series.

Speaking on selection of the side, Eddy said;

“The team is progressing well and having finished 9th in Dubai and 8th in Sydney, there is a strong desire to build on these achievements.

There has been a quicker turn around than usual, with Sydney taking place just three weeks ago, so we're conscious that they players involved have recovered and are fit and ready to go for Las Vegas.

We've been drawn with the hosts USA, Fiji and Spain, so while it will be a pool with teams we are familiar with, it will be a big challenge and everyone will need to be on top form for each game.”
