Munster Women Make Winning Start

The Munster Women, sponsored by Keanes Jewellers, claimed an 8-3 win over Connacht today at the Sportsground, Galway in their first Interprovincial match of the season.

Munster Captain Niamh Briggs opened the scoring with an early first half penalty but this was soon cancelled out as Connacht replied with their own three pointer to level the scores.

Loosehead prop Fiona Reidy then scored what proved to be the match winning try to make the half time score 8-3 to the visitors.

Munster held out through a scrappy and scoreless second half to take the points and make a winning start to the defence of their Interprovincial title.
