Both the Munster Youths and Munster U16’s travel to play Leinster at the weekend, with the Munster U16’s up first on Friday as both the A and B squads take on their Leinster counterparts in a double header at Blackrock College. On Saturday, the Munster Youths play their Interprovincial Championship semi final at Naas RFC at 12 noon.

With the earlier rounds played in September/October, Munster Youths have an opportunity to make amends for losing out to both Leinster and Connacht in the earlier rounds of the competition. A place in the final on 26th January in Mullingar is up for grabs on Saturday, with Munster Youths eyes firmly on the prize.

Four players from the Munster Youths team have been selected to play for Ireland on a five day tour of France, playing Languedoc in two matches from 6th Feb – 10th Feb next. The chosen players are Luke O’Dea (Shannon RFC), JP Cooney (Thurles RFC), Paul Molloy (Waterpark RFC) and Dean Landy (Carrick on Suir RFC). The tour will serve as a warm up in preparation for the FIRA Tournament in Treviso, Italy in March. Ireland came second last year in this competition beaten by host nation France in Biarritz.
