Munsters Retain Charity Cup
16th September 2010 By Munster Rugby
It took extra time to decide this final before a large crowd at Thomond Park as Young Munster retained their Limerick Charity Cup title with a 12-9 victory.
A missed penalty in the 84thminute of the game denied Shannon victory as young Ben Sergeant missed a penalty opportunity to put Shannon ahead with the sides tied 9-9 and so an extra twenty minutes had to be played.
Willie Staunton proved Munster’s hero kicking his fourth penalty in extra time to decide the contest.
Shannon led 9-3 at the interval with Sergeant kicking three penalties for Parish side.
