Nenagh Ormond & Garryowen To Contest For Limerick Charity Cup Title

Nenagh Ormond reach first Limerick Charity Cup Final.

Nenagh Ormond have reached their first Limerick Charity Cup Final on the 17th November where they will face Garryowen after a dramatic win at home to U.L. Bohemian.

Despite being on the back foot for long periods of the opening half Nenagh capitalised on errors by the visitors with David Gleeson and Ger O’Gorman scoring tries for the home side and Derek Corcoran converting the latter for a 12-0 half time lead.

A penalty by Colin Ryan opened U.L. Bohemian’s account but an intercept ten meters from his own line saw Kevin O’Gorman extend Nenagh’s lead to 17-3.

Tries by Finbarr Aherne and Harry Fleming both converted by Dave Neville had the sides level with six minutes remaining.

Jack Molamphy proved Nenagh’s hero with a late penalty.

Garryowen booked their place in the decider with a 33-19 win against Old Crescent at Dooradoyle on Friday night last.

Larry Hanly put Old Crescent ahead with a try after four minutes and Ronan McKenna converted.

Garryowen were level three minutes later when Aaron McCluskey touched down and Neil Cronin converted.

The Rosbrien side regained the lead with a Shane Mullally try and McKenna converted on 26 minutes.

Garryowen finished the half the stronger side to lead 21-14 at half time with a penalty try and a try and two conversions by Cronin.

Liam Barrett and Diarmuid McCarthy added further tries for Garryowen after the break and Cronin converted one. Crescent scored their third try in the final minute.
