The Munster Rugby Coach Development Department hosted its first coaching course of the season last weekend in Thomond Park.
The IRFU Stage 3 course was held in the MRSC Bar at Thomond Park Stadium on Saturday and Sunday to a capacity attendance.
It proved to be a weekend of firsts with the course being the inaugural of the revamped IRFU coaching curriculum to be run in the province. Attending coaches were also the first to take part in the new format and it was the first time a coaching course has been held at Thomond Park Stadium.
The two day stage 3 course is designed to accommodate adult rugby coaches as well as head coaches at Under 16 and Under 18 levels.
The new curriculum focuses fundamentally on enhancing coaching knowledge of General Movement. The core content is practically delivered emphasising the development of Stage 3 players and their understanding of the game. The courses also enhances coaches’ knowledge on technical, tactical, physical, mental and lifestyle capacities of player development.
Munster Rugby would like to thank MRSC and Thomond Park for facilitating the course.
