New Referees Course In Mallow On Sunday
13th September 2016 By Munster Rugby
The Munster Association Of Referees (MAR) are currently recruiting for new referees to take up the role throughout the province with their next Referees Course taking place this Sunday, September 18, at Mallow GAA Club.
The call is open to both male and females who would like to take the general refereeing path or those who wish to support clubs at a local level through community refereeing.
Sunday's course is being facilitated by IRFU Referee Development Manager Peter Fitzgibbon.
At a recent recruitment launch former Munster and Ireland international Paul O'Connell, who has strongly supported the Munster Association of Referees over the years, said that both Munster and Irish rugby need more referees and he encouraged those interested to take up the role and give something back to the game.
He said referees were both mentors and coaches to him as he moved through the underage ranks. He mentioned how at underage level referees helped young players understand the need for discipline which helped with their development pathway.
