Bruff will be putting their ODM Financial Munster Senior Cup and Ulster Bank Bateman Cup titles on the line on Friday.

Last season the County Limerick side came out on top 23-19 in a thrilling final and the Dooradoyle side will not want a repeat of their back to back defeats in 2004 and 2005 and will be anxious to reverse last season’s result.

Bruff have had the easier path to the final of the two clubs, their first two games were at home, defeating Clonakilty 34-0 in the opening round and Midleton 24-14 in the quarter final. They travelled to Coonagh in the semi final and overcame the challenge of Shannon 31-14.

Garryowen have had a difficult campaign having to travel to Cork for their first two games where they defeated Cork Constitution 15-9 in the opening round and on the back pitch at Musgrave Park they defeated Dolphin 26-18. They hosted a fancied Cashel side in the semi final and their determination to reach yet another final showed as they blitzed the Tipperary side in the opening half hour to run out 47-10 winners.

Both sides have made a similar opening to their Ulster Bank League campaigns each losing two games and winning one.

Bruff have shown that they will not give up their titles easily but Garryowen who will be playing in their fifth final in the last eleven years, can put in a performance like they did in the earlier rounds the trophy could be heading to Dooradoyle for the thirty eighth time.

Elsewhere high flying Cashel travel to Cork to face Dolphin at Musgrave Park, in the semi final of the Cork Charity Cup with Highfield awaiting the winners in the final. Dolphin will be anxious to bounce back to winning ways after last week’s home defeat in the League to Cork Constitution, while Cashel will want to continue their impressive start to the season and also make amends for their semi final Senior Cup defeat by Dolphin back in 2006.
