Nutritional Information For Young Players
14th May 2015 By Munster Rugby
The Munster Rugby Development and S&C Departments are distributing nutritional information to young players and their coaches throughout the province to promote dietary education.
Munster Rugby Nutritionist Dr. Catherine Norton and the IRFU have provided the information that is specifically tailored for young players. Expert tips with specific information on an area related to nutrition will be distributed over the next few months.
We start with the most important meal of the day; breakfast. This information will continue to be distributed around Munster and posted on the site in the coming months.
A PDF file of 25 quick and healthy breakfasts is here and you can print this off for yourself or distribute it to the parents and players at your club or school.
The IRFU Nutrition Department have also compiled fact sheets to help young players and their parents understand their nutritional requirements. Each fact sheet contains specific advice on an area related to nutrition with the fact sheet on the Benefits of Breakfast here.
You can view all of the videos and fact sheets on the IRFU Eat To Compete Age-Grade programme here.
You can also print off the Irish Dietetic and Nutrition Institute booklet on how a teenage sportsperson should fuel their body.
Check out the video below as Irish international Andrew Trimble gives advice on how real food can benefit young players.
