ODM Senior Cup Dominates Weekend’s Fixtures

All four quarter finals in the ODM Munster Senior Cup are down for decision.

The big game is the meeting of Young Munster and Shannon at Clifford Park on Saturday. These sides have contested some epic finals in recent seasons and both will be anxious to book a semi final place. Willie Staunton was in outstanding form last week in Munster’s 38-6 victory over U.C.C. contributing twenty four of his side’s tally.
Shannon have made a good start to their season reaching the Charity Cup Final with victories over Nenagh and U.L. and recorded a second win last weekend in the Senior Cup where Luke O’Dea grabbed two tries and David O’Donovan and Aaron Spring got one each in a 35-15.victory.
Munster’s Coach Mike Prendergast could make an appearance for the home side as he continues his recovery from injury.

Cashel play U.L. Bohemian at the Tipperary venue on Friday night kick off 8.00. Cashel have been left idle the last two weeks so may be a bit rusty against a Bohes side that were far from impressive in their 19-3 away win over Thomond.

Holders Bruff face Midleton. Bruff put in a big performance last week in their 34-0 home win over Clonakilty as they ran in five tries with John Moore getting two of them. Midleton their opponents will have it all to do to cause an upset and again will be looking to their out half Peter Brougham to repeat last week’s performance where he scored fifteen points in his side’s 20-6 home win over Highfield.

The final quarter final tie sees Dolphin at home to Garryowen on Sunday. Dolphin easily saw off the challenge of Old Crescent last week 28-0, while Garryowen caused the upset of the round with a 15-9 victory over Cork Constitution at Temple Hill. The Dooradoyle side will have to show a repeat of that form if they are to reach the last four.
