Munster Rugby, in association with Domestic Rugby partner Marks & Spencer, held a recent first-year blitz at Thomond Community College with senior players Tommy O’Donnell and Chris Farrell in attendance.
A total of four schools took part in the blitz, including Thomond Community College, Villiers School, St Clement’s College and Mungret Community College with 80 pupils involved in a variety of training sessions.
The two-day event was co-ordinated by Munster Community Rugby Officer Kenneth McNamara and follows on from another blitz recently held at Glenstal Abbey School where 225 players attended.
The Munster Coach Development department are scheduled to host a further two blitzes later this week, one at Parteen National School in Clare and another at Irish Independent Park, Cork.
The blitz programme serves as an opportunity for first-year players to develop their skills in a competitive environment and for senior players to pass on their knowledge of the game.
