O’Driscoll & Hurley Back To Basics

Former Munster forwards Mick O’Driscoll and Darragh Hurley hosted a Scrum and Lineout Workshop last night at the Mardyke Arena, Cork.

A total of 81 coaches attended the evening which began with an update on law guidelines given by John Lacey, International Rugby Referee.

The coaches then assembled on pitch to observe practical sessions presented by O’Driscoll and Hurley with the assistance of Paul McCarthy, Munster Scrum Coach.

A number of UCC Under 21 players participated in the lineout and scrum demonstrations with the main emphasis on the mechanics and individual functional role during the unit of play.

Following an open question and answer forum with the past players, the evening concluded with a module on ‘performance analysis’ presented by Len Browne of UCC Arena.

Munster Rugby will continue to hold further workshops throughout the province on specific areas of play and details will be announced shortly.

* Many thanks to UCC RFC for facilitating the evening.
