Old Crescent RFC have recently commenced an inclusive rugby programme at the club in conjunction with Limerick Sports Partnership and the Limerick branch of Down Syndrome Ireland.

Throughout the months of May and June, Old Crescent have held tag rugby sessions with age-grade players from Down Syndrome Ireland in Limerick.

As part of the club’s community programme, Old Crescent were delighted to grow its underage section into Inclusive Rugby.

Earlier this year, Club President Paul Donnellan, Underage Chairperson Peter Shelley, Director of Rugby Eugene McGovern and Senior Men’s Head Coach Matt Brown met with the players from Down Syndrome Ireland and their parents to discuss starting an inclusive rugby programme.

Concurrently, the club engaged with their tag rugby community which saw a number of new volunteers emerge who subsequently undertook a coaching workshop with David McKay, the IRFU’s Disability and Inclusion Officer.

Inclusive rugby will break for the summer and recommence in September.
