Packed Weekend Of Junior Club Rugby

Newcastle West had an impressive start in the Junior League.

This weekend sees a packed weekend of Junior knock-out competitions in North Munster, South Munster and Kerry.

The quarter finals of the Transfield Cup are down for decision on Sunday.

Newcastle West welcome St Senan’s to West Limerick and there are also three Limerick City derbies. Old Crescent lock horns with Shannon at Rosbrien, Thomond take on Richmond at Liam Fitzgerald Park and Young Munster entertain St Mary’s.

The semi-finals of the Cork County Cup are down for decision as holders Bandon continue their defence of the trophy with an away tie against Kanturk.

The other semi-final is a West Cork derby, which sees Skibbereen and Clonakilty going head to head at the Carbery Showgrounds.

On Friday evening, Kinsale begin their defence of the O’Neill Cup with a home tie against Mitchelstown under lights.

On Sunday, last season’s finalists Crosshaven lock horns with Ballincollig at Myrtleville Cross and Bantry Bay make the long trip to North Cork to take on Mallow.

In the Kingdom, there are two McElligott Cup quarter finals down for decision. Last season’s finalists Killorglin host Iveragh and Killarney are at home to Chorca Dhuibhne.

There are also games at Junior 2 level in the McInerney Cup, Dennehy and O’Sullivan (Muskerry) Cup.
