PBC and Castletroy College booked their places in the Munster Schools Senior Cup quarter final today at Rosbrien and Dooradoyle.
Castletroy College 18, Glenstal Abbey School 16.
Castletroy College qualified for the quarter finals of the Munster Schools Senior Cup thanks to a hard earned win over Glenstal Abbey School at Dooradoyle yesterday.
Out half Jamie Heuston kicked a third minute penalty for Castletroy but they soon found themselves paying the price for indiscipline when Ben Healy kicked two penalties for Glenstal.
It was all square again when Heuston landed a second Castletroy penalty but they suffered a blow when Heuston had to retire injured before half time.
This meant that scrumhalf Stephen Atkinson moved to out half and took over the kicking duties.
The Castletroy pack dominated in the heavier conditions.
Mark Fleming got in for a Glenstal try after great work by Jack Stafford and Shane Downes. Healy converted superbly from the touchline.
Before the break Alan Fitzgerald had a try for Castletroy to leave it 13-11 at half time.
Heavy rain took its toll in the second half happenings as good work by Castletroy was rewarded with a try by their outstanding second row Sean English after eleven minutes which Atkinson converted.
Glenstal’s only response was a third penalty from Healy after 51 minutes.
