PBC Retain McCarthy Cup

2nd December 2015 By Munster Rugby

PBC Retain McCarthy Cup

A deserved win for Presentation Brother College over their arch rivals from Sydney Hill Christian Brothers College, as the Mardyke boys retained their McCarthy Cup title at Irish Independent Park.

P.B.C. 10, C.B.C. 3.

Over the hour Pres’ were the dominant side and it was only in the final few minutes that Christians looked like breeching the Pres’ line as they came close to a try.

It was an excellent game of rugby and credit must go to both sides and their Coaches.
The opening quarter was played between both 22’s but Pres’ eventually broke the dead lock when Pres’ scrum half Joe O’Leary broke from a scrum in the Christians 22, linked up with number 8 Alex Kendellen and O’Leary went on the loop and touched down in the corner.

James Keohane expertly converted from the touch line.

Four minutes before half time Christians full back Cian Whooley landed a penalty to leave Pres’ 7-3 ahead at half time.

Pres’ continued to have Christians pinned back in the second half and Keohane extended his side’s advantage midway through the half.
