PBC Students Complete Coaching Course

Munster Rugby recently completed an eleven week transition year student coaching course at Presentation Brothers College, Cork.

The initiative is part of the school’s transition year syllabus and the inclusion of rugby coaching was well received by the nineteen students that participated in the on and off pitch sessions.

As part of their practical coaching module the students coached the 5th class boys of St Joseph’s Primary School through many different aspects of the game. The young coaches were paired off and spent twenty minutes each coaching in specific areas with a particular emphasis on developing rugby through game appreciation and in a fun environment.

The transition year coaches were observed by Munster Rugby Coach Development Officers and received feedback on all areas of coaching the modern game. The students also received a participation certificate on completion of the course.

Munster rugby would like to thank PBC for their co-operation in hosting the workshop and special thanks also to St Joseph’s Primary School for their participation in the practical elements of the course.
