PBC Through To Semi Final

PBC qualified for the Munster Schools Senior Cup semi finals today with a with a comprehensive victory over Bandon Grammar School at Irish Independent Park.
PBC 39, Bandon Grammar School 10.
PBC will now meet arch rivals CBC after their lopsided quarter final wain.
Peter Sylvester opened the scoring for the Mardyke College in the second minute with a penalty from the Bandon five-metre line.
Four minutes later, Jonathan Wren increased the margin to 8-0 with a try in the corner following a lineout outside the West Cork side’s 22.
The Mardyke College continued to have Bandon on the defensive approaching the second quarter as Harry Shanahan scored their second try in the 19th minute, which was converted by Sylvester.
Bandon began to turn the screw and they opened their account in the 24th minute when Sean Hudson slotted over a penalty inside the Pres’ 22.
Pres’ responded with a penalty from Sylvester to give his side an interval lead of 18-3.
The Mardyke College were quick off the mark from the restart as Jack O’Shea capitalized on a defensive error by the West Cork side to score his side’s third try, which was converted by Sylvester.
Pressure by the Mardyke College’s pack from a tap and go penalty yielded a penalty try, which Sylvester converted to increase the margin to 32-3.
With the game over as a contest, Pres’ stretched their lead by a further seven points with a try under the posts by Eoin O’Shea from a break in the middle of the park. Sylvester added the simple conversion.
Three minutes from time, Gavin Coombes dived under the posts following a ruck in the Pres’ 22 for Bandon’s only try, which was converted by Hudson.
