Preparing For The Future
16th July 2012 By Munster Rugby
Munster Rugby in partnership with the provinces’ schools and clubs are currently building a platform that allows for the future talent of Munster and Irish rugby to be catered for, monitored, educated and improved.
In preparation for the upcoming interprovincial series the Munster U18 (Clubs and Schools), U19 and U20 squads are currently taking part in a ‘Rugby Talent Camp’ at Rockwell College which will run over the next five weeks.
This new initiative will provide a combination of on pitch skills sessions together with educational programmes focusing on healthy diets and general well-being on a three day full time basis.
In addition to the players Tuesday to Thursday full-time schedule at Rockwell College they are also taking part in strength and conditioning sessions at their local centres in Limerick, Cork, Waterford and Tipperary on Mondays and Fridays.
Running parallel with the interpro squads summer training schedule are the younger Munster squads e.g. the Cadets, the U17 youth and the U17 school squads.
These groups will aim to progress onto the Munster Talent Camps over the next two years as part of Munster Long Term Development Pathway in conjunction with the IRFU.
