Primary School Blitz At Bruff RFC

17th June 2016 By Munster Rugby

Primary School Blitz At Bruff RFC

Bruff RFC recently held their annual primary school end of season touch rugby blitz day at Kilballyowen Park, Co. Limerick.

Participants included boys and girls representing St.Patrick's Bruree, Scoil Dean Cussen and Cloverfield national schools.

The purpose of the day was to promote boys rugby for all ages at Bruff RFC and also increase girls playing numbers competing in the club’s Mini, Under 13 and Under 15 age grade.

The game of touch rugby promotes the evasive and running skills of the game without the tackle element. Both the boys and girls competing in their respective blitzes displayed great running rugby with impressive ball handling, passing and tries scored.

Each of the three participating schools received an IRFU Play Rugby pack containing rugby balls, cones and bibs to facilitate the pupils in continuing to play rugby at school.

Munster Rugby would like to thank all three primary schools for taking part on the day and the other eight primary schools in which Bruff RFC Schools Rugby coach Ed Hennessy and Bruff Community Rugby Officer Eoin Cahill attended throughout the 2015/16 season.

Many thanks also to the girls’ underage coach at Bruff RFC, Joe Kelly who at the last minute helped referee games along with Munster Community Rugby Officer Euan Gee.

The Munster Rugby Summer Camp at Bruff RFC for 6 to 12 year olds will be held on Monday 8th to Friday 12th August. For more information or to book your place please click here
