Quinlan Named Rising Star Of The Month
5th February 2015 By Munster Rugby
Cork Con’s Tomás Quinlan was yesterday announced as December’s winner of the Ulster Bank League Rising Star of the Month award.
The CBC educated out-half has shone alongside experienced scrum-half Gerry Hurley since breaking into the starting XV last November.
The Munster sub-academy star has made a big contribution in a number of league wins for the Temple Hill outfit who currently occupy fourth place in Division 1A of the AIL.
His precise place-kicking was also vital in Con's Munster Senior Cup final win over Garryowen last month.
Quinlan made his Munster A debut as a substitute against Worcester Warriors in October and also featured for the Munster U-20s in their Interprovincial campaign.
Cork Con's Johnny Holland won the AIL Young Player of the Year award in 2013 and, ironically, Quinlan's elevation to the starting 10 position came after Holland injured his hamstring while playing for Munster A.
