Record Numbers at Clanwilliam Coaching Course
4th October 2007 By Munster Rugby
Last weekend, the Munster Rugby Coaching and Development Office ran the biggest Mini Rugby coaching course in the province since the induction of the IRFU’s Coach Education pathway in 2002.
Forty eight coaches participated in the two day course at Clanwilliam RFC with the numbers testifying to the great efforts of the coaches themselves and their clubs in investing in the future of the game in the province.
Over the weekend, the coaches participated in specialised sessions which included a presentation from Ray Egan, Sub Academy Conditioning Coach on Conditioning, Agility, Balance and Speed.
Padraig Culbert presented on the Role of the Coach and on the planning and organising of a session.
Eugene Murnane, Youth Development Officer and Head Coach of Bruff RFC lent his expertise on the scrum, line out, ruck and maul.
All other modules were covered by John Lacey and Paul Collins, Regional Development Officers with the Munster Branch IRFU.
The next Mini Rugby Course for the Southern Region takes place on October 13th and 14th at Cork Constitution FC. For bookings, please contact the Coaching and Development Office on 021-4323693 or email developmentoffice@munsterrugby.ie
