Regional Development Squad Selection Day.

Over 160 players from North, South, East and West Munster took part in a Munster U18 youths squad selection day yesterday at the University of Limerick sports grounds.

The players competed in a round robin series of trial matches throughout the day observed by Munster U18 Club selectors.

A total of 45 players were picked as part of an initial squad and will take part in a further trial match on Wednesday,"Head 21st November. The selected players will then meet again at a training camp over Christmas and Easter and take part in an intense Munster Talent Camp Summer Programme next August.

The players will continue with weekly training sessions in their own regions throughout the rugby season and increase their strength and conditioning and skill development programme from one to two weekly sessions.

A final squad of players will be selected to represent the Munster U18 Clubs Squad, under Head Coach Noel O’Meara, in next year’s interprovincial series commencing in September.

The following nine Munster U18 Clubs players that represented the province in the recent interprovincial series are currently taking part in the Ireland U18 training camp at Clongowes Wood:-

Toby Ademakin (Garryowen), Brendan Quinlan (Clanwilliam) Ben Betts (Young Munster), Aaron Hogan (Youghal), Idris Rqibi (Skibbereen), Dylan Horgan (Highfield), Fionn McGibney (Garryowen), Eoin O’Carroll (Tralee), Mark Dorgan (Highfield).

Munster U18 Schools, U19 and U20 squads also began their screening process yesterday at UL which will continue throughout the remainder of the season with final squads being selected in April for the Munster Talent Camp Summer programme.
