Holders Christians showed great resilience to come away from Clifford Park with a draw after a very exciting semi-final.

Just like yesterdays Senior Semi-Final Crescent came close to a winning score deep in injury time. Crescent’s out half Cian Clifford attempted a drop goal and for the second time in the match his effort hit the upright but this time bounced wide of the posts, so the sides will have to do it all again next week with likely date being Wednesday 20th March at 3pm with a venue to be confirmed.

Both sides started as if they wanted to play an open game. Crescents full back Glen Dickson and skipper Calvin Nash some decisive runs; while Christians scrum half Robert McGuire was dictating matters with some delightful kicks.

Crescent were enjoying the majority of the possession and it was no surprise when Clifford opened the scoring with a drop goal after eighteen minutes.

Back came Christians and Robert Hyde and Oisin Conway came close to crossing the line. A drive by Darragh McGinn resulted in a penalty for Christians and Michael O’Halloran’s effort, hit the far upright and bounced over the crossbar to level the scores after twenty two minutes.

Crescent came close to getting the opening try of the game when winger Conor McSweeney touched down but was adjudged to have a foot in touch.

Three minutes into first half injury time a lovely back line move saw Billy O’Hora cut through the Christians defence to score under the posts and Clifford converted for a 10-3 half time lead.

Christians pack began to dominate play in the second half and won a crucial scrum against the head and out half Michael O’Halloran had Crescent on the back foot with some excellent kicking.

A block down by O’Halloran saw Christians win possession and the ball was spread out the back line but Ben O’Callaghan knocked on with the lone at his mercy.

Crescent then conceded a five meter scrum and the Christians pack bombarded the line and Daire Feeney got in for a try which O’Halloran converted to level the scores after forty five minutes.

O’Halloran was off target with a long range penalty effort for Christians and then with the game heading for a replay Clifford came very close to snatching a win for the Limerick side injury time with that last gasp drop goal.
