22nd January 2020 By The Editor
Bandon Grammar School secured their place in the second round of the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup with a 22-5 victory over Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí in a West Cork derby at Irish Independent Park this afternoon.
Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí, playing in the Junior Cup for the first time, made a lively start to the match with the majority of possession in the opening stages.
However, it was Bandon Grammar who claimed the first points with Number 8, Conor Miskella, crashing over the line in the 16th minute after a rampaging run from Shadrach Nnamani.
Bandon increased their lead minutes later with a score from Shadrach Nnamani, the blindside flanker powering over left of the posts before Dylan Hicks added the conversion.
CPB gained momentum before the break and responded with a terrific back line effort to secure a try.
Ciaran O’Sullivan found Oran Wiseman who kicked through for inside centre Daire Kingston to race over and touch down in the 27th minute.
The competition newcomers continued to pressurise as a missed penalty attempt from CPB found its way into the hands of a player under the sticks. However, the ball was knocked on.

CPB showed promising signs early in the second-half but it was Bandon who converted their attacking opportunities in the 22.
Mitchell Connolly gathered ball from the line out to barge over in the left corner come the 44th minute while Nnamani secured his second of the match in similar fashion moments later.
CPB continued to fight until the final whistle, a cross field kick from Kingston located Michael O’Donovan on the wing for the score in the left corner as a foot was deemed in touch.
