Presentation Brothers College 40 – 19 Crescent College Comprehensive

Virgin Media Park was the location for the second Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup semi final qualifier as 32 time winners Presentation Brothers College met 2022 title-holders Crescent College Comprehensive.

It was a tit-for-tat first half as both sides defended well and traded handling errors. It wasn’t until the 18th minute that PBC were in for their first try. A break from flanker Rian McFarlane was swiftly offloaded to Denis Murphy who fizzed the ball wide to winger Daniel Murphy who crashed over in the corner.

But Crescent fought back to level the game when Darragh McKeogh barreled through a plethora of PBC players to crash over the whitewash.

With the conversion drifting just wide the sides ran into the sheds with five points a piece.

Crescent struck first in the second half through loose-head prop Ronan Ryan. Out half Alan Cleary add the extras.

PBC responded just two minutes later with a second try from Daniel Murphy with the winger also kicking his own conversion.

Tation added a further two tries to their tally as Cormac Bohan and captain James O’Leary crashed over in the 52nd and 58th minutes respectively.

But Crescent continued the fight and scored their final try in the 61st minute through Dammi Obasa which was converted by Alan Cleary.

PBC sealed the deal in the last five minutes as both Rickey Barrett and Bobby O’Callaghan crashed over to bring the score line to 40-19.

This sends the Cork school straight through to the semi finals. While Crescent will have to battle it our against either Rockwell College or Bandon Grammar School in the quarter finals.
