Ardscoil Rís and CBC booked their places in the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup semi-finals while Rockwell College, PBC and St. Munchin’s join Crescent Comprehensive in the quarter-finals of the competition.
PBC v Castletroy College
PBC secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup with a 42-10 win over Castletroy College at Irish Independent Park.
Pres took an early lead through Sean Condon who raced over under the posts from his wing, after Aodhan Cooke and Tom Coughlan made the initial link-up. Out-half Ben O’Connor converted the score in the fifth minute.
Castletroy responded with a penalty from full-back Darragh Murray in the 14th minute following a break from Stephen Kiely in the centre.
Pres found themselves in the Castletroy 22 and were rewarded with a penalty, which O’Connor successfully converted after 20 minutes.
Pres winger Ronan Dwyer located space down the left wing to sprint over in the 27th minute before Fionn Roussel crashed over from close range after centre Aodhan Cooke broke through the middle.

Pres extended their lead in the second-half with O’Connor slotting a penalty in the 43rd minute.
Castletroy responded with a try courtesy of Aidan Ryan who crossed minutes later before Murray brilliantly converted the score.
Adam Twomey then touched down for Pres with 10 minutes to go, racing over in the right corner while O’Connor added a tricky conversion.
O’Connor then provided the try-scoring pass for Pres’ Jamie Barry out-wide.
Number 8 Rory O’Shaughnessy broke for Pres’ final try of the match, selling the dummy before touching down under the posts. O’Connor added the extras.

CBC v St. Munchin’s
Christians booked their place in the semi-finals of the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup with a 40-0 victory over St. Munchin’s at Irish Independent Park, while the Limerick school progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.
CBC dominated in the opening minutes and it wasn’t long before David Novak bustled over from close range. Out-half Benjamin Lynch added the conversion in the third minute.
Full-back William Kingston gathered a ball out on the left wing for Christians, as the backs moved the ball along the line to convert another scoring opportunity minutes later.
CBC extended their lead with a try in the 16th minute courtesy of scrum-half Jack Casey who dived over after the forwards made ground in the 22. Lynch added the extras.
Centre Matthew O’Callaghan crossed for Christians’ fourth try in the corner minutes later before Lynch struck a fantastic conversion from the right.
Before the break, CBC hooker Adam Wrona broke through and charged towards the line to go under the posts in the 30th minute. Lynch added the conversion.

Christians continued to dominate in the opening to the second-half, winger Billy O’Riordan racing over in the left corner as Lynch converted from the side-line in the 36th minute.
Munchin’s enjoyed spells of possession in the final quarter and came close to scoring in the final play of the match but the CBC defence held out.

Ardscoil Rís v Rockwell
Ardscoil Rís caused an upset with a 24-21 win over holders Rockwell College at Thomond Park.
Ardscoil are now through to the semi-finals where they will face either St. Munchin’s or Presentation Brothers College, while Rockwell will host Crescent College Comprehensive in the quarter-final.
Ardscoil made a great start with tries from Harry Long and Andrew Lyons with a Long conversion to lead 12-0 before Jack Ryan opened Rockwell’s account with a try which Kian O’Reilly converted.
A try by Darragh Custy converted by Long had Ardscoil further ahead at the interval.

Rockwell did come into it in the second-half but tries from Joseph Lawrence and Jock Fogarty both converted by O’Reilly were not enough to book their place in the last four.
