Cork Constitution

Cork Con will face Highfield in the final of the Cork Charity Cup on Saturday.

The finalists of both the Cork Charity Cup and Sporting Limerick Charity Cup have been decided as Midleton retained their Cork Charity Shield title.

Holders Cork Constitution will face Highfield next Saturday at Temple Hill at 1pm in the final of the Cork Charity Cup after they disposed the challenge of Dolphin in their semi-final with a 43-0 victory.

Holders Young Munster defeated Nenagh Ormond 22-6 in their semi-final of the Limerick Sporting Charity Cup. Darren Ryan and Nicky Irwin scored tries for Young Munster and they were also awarded a penalty try. Former Thomond player Evan Cusack kicked a conversion and a penalty. Conor O’Brien replied with two penalties for the home side.

Old Crescent will be their opponents in the final after they came from behind to defeat Bruff 21-19 at Rosbrien. Brendan Keogh gave Bruff an early lead with a try but a try by Niall Hardiman on thirty six minutes converted by Ronan McKenna had the home side ahead.

The lead only lasted minutes as Tadgh O’Dwyer scored a try for Bruff and Florient Riquet converted for a 12-7 half time lead. Five minutes into the second half it was 19-7 to the visitors when Jack Fitzgerald scored Bruff’s third try and Riquet converted. Tries by Donal Murray and an Evan Griffin try in added time both converted by McKenna saw Crescent book their final place.

In a thrilling Cork Charity Shield Final, Midleton edged out Sunday’s Well 20-12 in a thrilling tie at the Towns Park.

Alex O’Brien’s injury time try converted by Rob Williams ensured Midleton retained the trophy. The home side were also awarded a penalty try and Williams kicked two penalties. Brian Derham kicked four penalties for the ‘Well.
