Rugby Blitz Day At Bruff RFC
18th December 2015 By Munster Rugby
Munster Rugby recently hosted a primary school Leprechaun Rugby Blitz for fifth and sixth class boys and girls at Bruff RFC.
School pupils representing Athlacca, Bruff, Brulee and Caherconlish primary schools took part in the one day event.
All schools have been engaging with the Play Rugby programme thanks to the ongoing support of Ed Hennessy and Eoin Cahill working with Bruff RFC.
The blitz was a great opportunity for players to further develop their skills, knowledge and understanding of the game with an emphasis on fun and enjoyment.
The 'Play Rugby' programme encourages the effective development of non-contact mini rugby through schools by providing them with the necessary equipment and coach education.
Since the introduction of the 'Play Rugby' initiative boys and girls throughout the country have learned rugby techniques that include running and evasion, passing and tagging and it is hoped they will continue to play rugby at their local rugby clubs.
School teachers are encouraged to continue with this initiative and assist with the development of rugby at primary school level.
On completion of the course, the school will be presented with a 'Play Rugby' equipment pack which contains six rugby balls, cones, bibs, games and much more.
