Rugby Blitz Day At Scoil Barra NS
10th June 2016 By Munster Rugby
Munster Rugby recently hosted a 4th, 5th and 6th class primary school tag rugby blitz for pupils attending Scoil Barra National School in Ballincollig, Co. Cork
Scoil Barra National School has been engaging with the Play Rugby programme over the past few months and is a great opportunity for players to further develop their skills, knowledge and understanding of the game with an emphasis on fun and enjoyment.
Over 100 players took part on the day with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship on display from all participants.
The 'Play Rugby' programme encourages the effective development of non-contact mini rugby through schools by providing them with the necessary equipment and coach education.
Since the introduction of the 'Play Rugby' initiative, boys and girls throughout the country have learned rugby techniques that include running and evasion, passing and tagging and it is hoped they will continue to play rugby at their local rugby clubs.
School teachers are encouraged to continue with this initiative and assist with the development of rugby at primary school level.
If your school would like to enter the 'Play Rugby' programme next season please email info@munsterrugby.ie
